Alan Knipe is a world class volleyball coach and a key figure in the Long Beach State men’s volleyball history. Knipe has led Long Beach to national prominence, guiding the program to three NCAA Championships, including back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019 as well as this past 2024/2025 season. Over his 22 seasons as head coach, he has worked with some amazing players in Aleksandar and Moni Nikolov, TJ DeFalco and Josh Tuaniga.

I was extremely impressed on how the “house league” program was run, the coach was assertive and to the point and corrected players mistakes with just the right tone, allowing a good learning atmosphere. My daughter also said the program was a perfect balance of fun and learning. (The second coach), I see he takes the time to observe and correct the students with such patience, and at the end of each class, he asks the students individually what they think they need to improve and work on. I think these coaches should be recognized for their efforts of teaching the new generation of players for this great sport, as not all coaches are equal, and you have 2 great examples at Ronin.
